The Chicago Blackhawks resumed their winning ways last night, defeating the Atlanta Thrashers 3-1 in Atlanta.  The win ran the Hawks record on their current eight game road trip to 5-2.  Patrick Sharp ended his gola scoring drought by rifling in his 23rd goal on the power play in the second period.  Johnathan Towes scored off a rebound on the power play and Dave Bolland added an empty net short handed goal to ice the win for the Hawks.  Ilya Kovalchuk scored his 24th of the season for the Thrashers.

Also, the PBA or the Philippines Basketball Association is the second oldest professional basketball league in the world, next to the NBA. This league has been one of the foundations of sports in the Philippines.

  National basketball leagues across Europe, comprising the ULEB (Union of European Leagues of Basketball) have already started snagging NBA players with fat pay raises.

Probably the biggest name tag to head over thus far is Atlanta Hawks Q-tip resembling guard/forward Josh Childress, who signed with the Greek club Olympiacos.  Childress was by no means a star in the NBA but was arguably the Hawks most formidable bench guy.  In his four years with the Hawks he averaged 11.1 points and 5.6 boards.  Statistics hardly worthy in the NBA of the three-year, $20 million deal Olympiacos coughed up.

Apparently the Miami Heat and the Phoenix Suns have agreed on a trade that would send Shaquille O'Neal to Phoenix in exchange for Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks. I believe this is simply a knee-jerk reaction to the Los Angeles Lakers' acquisition of Pau Gasol (a brilliant move by L.A., by the way) and do not see how this trade can make sense from the Suns' vantage point.
